Why Choose Discover & Share?

Discover and Share acknowledges that there are many preschools and childcare centers in the Dallas Metroplex, and parents and guardians have many factors to consider when choosing a center. Because we feel the strengths of our center far out-shine those of other centers in the area, we encourage parents and guardians to consider carefully before choosing alternatives to Discover and Share.

Knowledge Of Ownership And Staff Discover And Share

Discover and Share is family-owned, yet we are professionally operated and under the daily management of knowledgeable owners. At Discover and Share, considerable dedication and on-site presence on the part of the staff AND administration ensures that quality is upheld each day in a real-time classroom. At Discover and Share, teachers are well-educated, well-trained, and participate in professional development activities on a regular basis. Our primary concern will always be the safety and health of each child, but we are also dedicated to providing an appropriate environment for his/her physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Alternative Centers
Large chain centers have knowledgeable early childhood specialists in their head offices, but providing consistent quality at every individual center is often difficult. We believe this is one result of varying levels of dedication between ownership, on-site staff, and corporate management.

“Devepmentally Appropriate” Practices At Discover And Share

At Discover and Share, we use theme-based model with the researched project approach. Our curriculum is based on the tailored Scholastic method in conjunction with Creative Curriculum. We emphasize “developmentally appropriate” practices, a term used by educators to denote children learning by doing, touching, using, playing, and achieving success at an individualized pace.

Standardized tests given to elementary school children show that those educated in a developmentally appropriate environment score equally in math, but higher in reading, language, and problem solving, and these children are more enthusiastic about learning than those educated in traditional programs.

Our education does not emphasize overly structured group learning but our teachers lead roles in academic learning process with individual child’s interests and developmental level in mind.

Play At Discover And Share

At Discover and Share, playtime is considered an important part of being a child. Furthermore, as children advance in the stages of education, play becomes more rule-oriented, and autonomy and cooperation contribute to their social, emotional, and intellectual development so children can:

  • explore, experiment, and manipulate—all essential in the construction of knowledge and the development of the representational thought process
  • examine and refine their learning in light of feedback they receive from the environment and other people and
  • develop imagination and creativity

At Discover and Share, during warmer weather months, children get to play in sand boxes, at the water tables, or practice gardening. Our playgrounds are very large, so children can run and play organized games easily. School-age children also have an area where they can play soccer, tag football, softball, etc...

Play At Alternative Centers
Many centers do not have sand boxes due to the expense of providing and maintaining CLEAN sand or because of the mess. At Discover and Share, we believe sand provides children with wonderful tactile experiences, and these experiences are worth the cost and clean-up. Many centers have small playgrounds, so teachers have to schedule outside play. Our playgrounds are large enough to accommodate the whole school at once.
